Further History of the Charity
Samuel Munslow gave £10 in 1847 and these monies were managed/invested for the benefit of the poor by the Rector and the Churchwardens. This often took the form of a load of coal at Christmas.
The original “Benefactor Boards” detailing these donations are still on display at the back of the church.
Further funds became available in the 1980’s and the residue of the funds from Fletcher and Munslow were combined with these and a registered charity established.
Charity Contacts
The Charity continues to help residents of Smethcote Parish who are in need, and additionally for the general or individual benefit of the inhabitants, as the trustees see fit.
There are five trustees. Chair being Rev. Hnatiuk, Two trustees nominated by the Parish Council, currently Martin Morris and Mike Sillence, and two co-opted trustees currently Carolyn Brunt and Geoff Jarrett. The trustees awarded grants of £300 to educational projects and £850 to community projects in 2019.
